…and handmade, functional ceramics in general.
- you can put them in the oven, and in the microwave. That said, if you’ve got a cup/bowl/etc. that has a lot of iron oxide in the clay body (think, red or black clays), be very careful about putting it in the microwave. The clay itself will heat up (exactly like you’d expect the vessel to heat up in a oven, only you won’t really be expecting it in the microwave) – watch your hands!
- you can put them in the dishwasher. But, handwashing is a whole lot better for them.
- handmade, functional pots are supposed to be used – don’t just put them on a shelf and look at them! Let them fulfill their muddy purpose!
- handmade pottery is not (usually) made by robots. Small (and sometimes, not so small) variations in size and shape are common in sets. I can promise you that the differences between be|ware pots will not impact their function; however, I can also promise you the the likelihood of a perfectly identical set is… well, zero. If identicality (is that a word? lol) is your jam, handmade pots – and specifically, these handmade pots — are not for you.
