Description
I have developed a bit of a fascination with donut vases – technically a ceramic torus – because they’re one of those forms that is a bit tricky to make, but look really cool when they work.
They’re fully functional as vases (ideally as bud vases, rather than full, heavy floral arrangements because they are sensitive to changes in weight distribution), or can live happily as art pieces. Or both! Why be just one thing? 🙂
This particular vase has two donuts with openings along the top surface, that will allow you to feed through a single opening on the upper and lower interior surfaces. Something important to note: See the lighter areas on the smaller donut? That’s not a glaze defect – they’re the maker’s (my) handprint, and entirely intentional. I know that some folks prefer “perfect” surfaces, but, I really like creating forms that remind the person experiencing it that a real, live human used their own hands to nurture the form into existence. If it’s going to bug you, this is not the vase for you 🙂
